I love taking something that looks boring and ordinary and giving it a new lease of life….I managed to find two sets of drawers that were just the size & price I was looking for on Facebook Marketplace. One was going to be for our bedroom while the other would be for my son if he wanted it and if not I could sell it.

After a good few hours of sanding both tops and a burnt out palm sander, my husband Chris turned the project over to me.

I used Annie Sloan’s Graphite chalk paint with a light sanding around the edges and an Osmo wood wax finish in Ebony for the freshly sanded tops. The paint was then sealed with clear Briwax on the green handled & dark oak on the cup handles set.

This one was given a more masculine look as it’s for my son, and was finished with a different dark oak Briwax to give an almost liquorice appearance and finished off with some antique brass cup handles.

The cup handles look different colours, but they’re not…it must be the angle. You can see where the sanding has just revealed a touch of the wood through the paint and I love the sheen of the wax with the shiny handles.

The Osmo wood wax really accentuates the grain
