Hand printed fabric Cushions
Hand block printed fabric cushions.
‘The linen fabric was printed by four students at a ‘Block Printing by hand’ class run by the very talented artist ‘Albert Harvey’
I share a studio with Albert and love watching him doing this traditional method of print.
I turn each students fabric into a piped cushion and love seeing the different pattern and colour combinations that each student uses.
This project was for a lovely retired couple based in Blewbury Oxfordshire. The Lounge was freshly decorated using Philippa Sale and her Interior Design team Flippa Interiors. The fabric is ……… and made up beautifully into double pleat interlined curtains at both ends of the lounge and a large Roman blind in the Piano room. The poles were corded wave hand painted Hallis Origins in Farrow & Ball Lichen and wave voiles on hand drawn Silent Gliss tracks at the front window
Making this lovely hand block printed fabric into cushions this week made a welcome break from curtains and roman blinds which are the mainstay of most soft furnishings businesses.
I was asked by local Oxfordshire artist Albert Harvey who I share a studio with, to make up these cushions for a class he taught recently at the Coaching Barn - a fantastic local studio hosting classes in Art, ceramics, cuisine, yoga etc
The class made their own blocks and printed them on fabric using Alberts beautiful shades of hand mixed colours
Can’t wait to hear if they are pleased with the results!
Another project finished in Oxfordshire. Beautiful hand made curtains, Roman blinds and cushions!
This beautiful velvet adds a touch of glamour to these Roman blinds for the Hallway and landing of my lovely neighbours house.
As the blind is outside the window, I’ve added a side return to hide the system which isn’t the prettiest to see side on….
Top of the stairs in the area used as an office are just one of two windows either side of the mirror
Mozart the cat approves!
I love taking something that looks boring and ordinary and giving it a new lease of life….I managed to find two sets of drawers that were just the size & price I was looking for on Facebook Marketplace. One was going to be for our bedroom while the other would be for my son if he wanted it and if not I could sell it.
After a good few hours of sanding both tops and a burnt out palm sander, my husband Chris turned the project over to me.
I used Annie Sloan’s Graphite chalk paint with a light sanding around the edges and an Osmo wood wax finish in Ebony for the freshly sanded tops. The paint was then sealed with clear Briwax on the green handled & dark oak on the cup handles set.
Our drawers in situ finished off with an assortment of beautiful ceramics and glass knobs
This is one of the drawers in its original & boring state….
This one was given a more masculine look as it’s for my son, and was finished with a different dark oak Briwax to give an almost liquorice appearance and finished off with some antique brass cup handles.
The cup handles look different colours, but they’re not…it must be the angle. You can see where the sanding has just revealed a touch of the wood through the paint and I love the sheen of the wax with the shiny handles.
The Osmo wood wax really accentuates the grain
Glass & ceramic knobs
Finally got the Roman blind finished for our guest bedroom ….. or should I say Jordan’s room…..sorry J 😉
I finally chose an Andrew Martin fabric in a dark charcoal silk. I wanted something patterned or highly textured but had to choose carefully as it needed to work with the patterned wallpaper.
The pelmet was done by David Admans at Catherine Charles….my go to man for pelmets & headboards! ⭐️
Lovely large pale teal fabric with ticking stripe edges
This Cottage curtain heading is really pretty and gives you the chance to use a contrasting fabric to compliment the face fabric. The dark piping along the edge gives a nice contrast to the pastel colours too.
Adding a Roman blind enables shading without covering the radiator during winter months.
Can’t wait to hang these dress curtains …
This customer had two matching chairs, one lived in the lounge and one in the dining room. She wanted the one in the lounge to be able to be brought into the dining room when needed, but it wouldn’t match….so we did a simple slip on cover in the grey and hey presto it now matches 🧵
Bringing in the springtime with this fun Orla Kiely design fabric from Ashley Wilde collection. We did simple 80mm Wave curtains on a Cameron Fuller track in Chalk….all dressed and waiting for the pleats to set
A cute little cushion to complete the look…
These are two rooms recently finished for my clients in Appleford. Julia and David have been working on their house and I have been lucky enough to be asked to do all the soft furnishings. Julia chose some gorgeous fabrics which were Really nice to work with. It’s always a pleasure to be involved in a project where the client has a real flair with colour and pattern.

This is Anya who is the 8 year old daughter of my clients Julia and David. I recently did various curtains and blinds for their lovely Appleford home and noticed Anya making things with her nana’s sewing machine and a sewing kit from her grandma
Having a constantly growing stash of leftover bits of fabric and not wanting to just throw them away….. I gave a large bag full of fabric & trimmings to Anya. She was so happy and grateful and got to work straight away.
She has made various bags, purses and even a skirt and her enthusiasm and obvious talent has been so lovely to see and I’m sure will be useful to her for years to come.
Who knows….she could end up running her own sewing business 😃
well done & keep up the great work Anya! 🥇⭐️🌈
I’m loving this bright and cheery room of my client Julia’s youngest daughter Lara. The wallpaper is L’Envol by Manuel Canovas for Colefax & Fowler and is fun & colourful and goes beautifully with the pink & yellow candy stripes Of the Roman blind….one of the widest I’ve ever made!
There’s nothing like a squishy feather stuffed cushion to curl up with on the sofa and when the fabrics are gorgeous too all that’s missing is a hot cuppa and maybe a biscuit or two to dunk! 🍪
Anya’s bedroom has recently been decorated it just needed the finishing touch….a Roman blind in a Studio G Fabric the Roof Garden collection - Rainfall Mineral. She picked the colours herself and I love her choice of wallpaper! 🐆🐅
Think we have a future designer in our midst! 🧡
